Shipping & Delivery Tips
ORDERING
When ordering through our third-party retailers, please verify the following information:
- Delivery address
- Phone number
It is important to ensure this information is accurate. Deliveries will be delayed or returned if retailers cannot reach you. Additional fees may result.
If there are any important notes regarding your delivery address (gate code, limited access, stairs or small doorways) please make a note at checkout or contact the retailer's customer service team.
DELIVERY OPTIONS
We strongly suggest you select white glove delivery or room of choice delivery. We do not recommend moving large boxes or awkward and heavy items yourself. If you are ordering bedding or small accessories, we recommend our retailer's standard delivery option.
Types of Delivery:
White Glove: Your order will be brought to the room of your choice and the packaging will be removed. The item will be assembled but not installed. (For example, art will not be hung and furniture will not be bolted to the wall.) Recommended.
Room-of-Choice with Packaging Removal: Your item will be placed in your room of choice and the packaging will be removed. The item will not be assembled. Assembly and moving into the exact location will be your responsibility.
Recommended.
Residential Curbside/Commercial: Your order will be left by the curb with all packaging, which may include a pallet. Not recommended.
Expedited Curbside: Your order will be shipped with a faster carrier and left by the curb with all packaging, which may include a pallet. Not recommended.
DELIVERY DAY
Delivery day is one of the best parts of your new design. Please review these tips to ensure that your big day unfolds smoothly. The best way to do this is to select Room-of-Choice or, even better, White Glove delivery.
Accepting delivery:
Usually, deliveries are uneventful. Occasionally, something goes wrong. Here is what to do:
When your delivery arrives:
- Inspect the outside of the box (particularly any damage to the box) and the label.
- Take photos of the damaged packaging.
- Mark the POD (Proof of Delivery) with any damages or issues and ensure the driver signs it and that you keep a copy (you can take a picture of the POD as well). Many vendors deny claims without a properly notated POD.
If the wrong or damaged item arrives, do not refuse the shipment.
If there is an issue with a damaged or incorrect shipment, let Daniel House Club or the retailer know as soon as possible. You can send an email to concierge@danielhouse.club to start a claim.
Include photos of the unopened packaging, the item after being unpackaged (wide shots and details of the damage), and the POD to resolve issues quickly.
Delivery Day Tips:
- Read the box: Sometimes boxes have instructions on them. Your box might say: lay flat, do not lay flat, do not stand on end, do not use knife. Please follow these instructions.
- Carefully remove packaging: Upholstery items can be easily damaged by utility knives, as can wood, metal, and glass surfaces. Furniture comes with lots of packaging. If the packaging doesn’t fit in your waste and recycling bins, most waste management companies offer bulky item or extra waste removal services. Taking the packaging to your local landfill or waste and recycling center is another option. There are also private trash removal and hauling services in most communities.
INSTALLATION
This is the designer word for putting everything in it's place.
This is the big day! Installation is the best part of design, where everything comes together. Before your scheduled delivery appointment, here are a few tips to ensure that installation goes smoothly:
- Ensure that all extra items are removed from the space.
- Clean and vacuum as needed so your new design has a fresh start.
- Put the rug pad and rug down first. Make sure the rug is positioned straight and wrinkle-free. Use rug tape as needed.
- Position accessories and pillows/throws. Remove tags and labels. Clean glass. Place felt pads on items that can scratch surfaces. And museum wax on items that might move out of place.
- Hire an art installer or educate yourself on how to safely and properly hang artwork and make sure you have the proper tools. We like this video.
